Managing Fiber to the Home with Adaptable Style
Fiber to the home is now becoming widespread and not just to new builds. Installers are demanding fiber management that can also deal with legacy copper cabling in existing buildings where retrofits can be particularly challenging. They need enclosures that are adaptable to various situations but don’t need lengthy installations.
Listening to these market demands, we developed the SOHO Pro™ PR2300 – a next-generation media enclosure specifically designed to streamline brownfield fiber installations whether in single family or multi dwelling units. In these situations there may be no existing in-wall solution so the enclosure is designed to be freestanding with an optional stand or wall-mounted. The attractive low-profile design has a finish that blends with residential décor and incorporates protective, decorative fins to prevent customers from placing spill-ables on top.
Installation is simplified by using a (patent pending) rail mounting system to position products within the enclosure. The adjustable, tool-less internal mounting brackets offer an efficient, preloaded plug-and-play installation. The compact 23” x 17” x 6.5” frame holds all the cabling and active (modem, ONT, USP), and passive (cable management clips/spools, modules) components of a multi-play residence.
For easy network plug and play functionality, keystone adapters are mounted on the sides of the enclosure and passive cooling via venting ensures equipment remains within operating temperatures.
The WiFi transparent enclosure allows mounting of wireless hubs and switches as the engineered-plastic unit offers 15x better WiFi signal pass-through than metal enclosures.
The easy access lids feature snap-in handles that blend naturally into the look of the entire design while doubling as side venting. A simple locking mechanism on the handles limits end-user access.
For the end-user it offers an attractive enclosure that does away with the mess of cables and clutter of equipment normally found in a highly networked home or office. Basically, it’s a win-win for both installers and end-users.
